THE MYTH:
The daughter of Hades and the personification of blessed death, Makaria is depicted as a little girl with albinism. She is embodied here as a white mushroom, radiant in a dark cave.

THE SCENT:
Makaria is otherworldly—its opening unfolds as we enter the cave: a breath of salt air, a sigh of wet stone, an echo of cold metal. The cave widens into a cavern and here is where we find the heart: dripping stalactites hang over clusters of white mushrooms wreathed in narcotic florals. The scene is completed in the dry down as white clay, aquatic musks and petrichor give form to the darkness. This is the scent of holy grottos undiscovered, subterranean sacred spaces, chthonic cathedrals shaped over millennia.
